Day 2 Highlights

The second day featured panel discussions focusing on startup ecosystems in the Middle East, particularly the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. Notable speakers included:

Jamil Shinawi, Co-founder and CEO of AHOY
Salman Attieh, Co-Founder & CEO of Jumlaty
Mohamed Elzalabany, Founder and CEO of Dailymealz & Partner at The Great Ventures

Moderated by Dusan Duffek, Partner & Co-Founder and Board Member of Zero One Hundred, The Do., the panel delved into the emergence of open-source contributions within the Arab tech world.

Jamil Shinawi highlighted that significant innovations are originating from informal settings like coffee shops, pizza parlors, and internet cafes in Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, rather than traditional academic institutions.

Another engaging session featured Marie Thérèse Fam, an independent investment consultant, and Oleksander Yaroshenko, who provided startups with practical advice on fundraising and negotiating with investors.

In a discussion about the future of startups in EU countries and beyond, Theodoros Loukaidis, Director General at the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation, and Niloufar Gharavi, 1st Secretary General at the Euro Nordic Funding Alliance, highlighted the upcoming wave of startup funding in EU, mainly Greece Cyprus, supported by the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation.

The summit also featured a thought-provoking talk by Adam Rodgway on thinking big and innovation. He delivered an emotional and reflective presentation about the potential achievements one can attain between birth and death, symbolized by “the dash between the dates” on a gravestone. Rodgway covered topics ranging from basic entrepreneurship to collaborations with the UK Space Agency and advancements in space manufacturing.

The Doers Summit 2025 successfully facilitated meaningful connections and provided actionable insights, reinforcing Greece and Cyprus’ position as an important hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe.
